I am assuming it is too many laptops on an access point. This environment has 24 laptops on a cart used in 1 room so shouldn't the controler divy them up between the 2 antennas in the 1142 which is sitting right above them?

thanks

Gary

Hi Gary,

Just to add a note here to the good info from my friend Leo (+5 ponts L-Man)

You are most correct about the nature of this alarm;

WCS Message AP ''{0}'', interface ''{1}." Load threshold violated.

Symptoms A radio interface of an access point is reporting that the client load has
crossed a configured threshold.

WCS Severity Minor.

Probable Causes There are too many clients associated with this radio interface.
Recommended Actions Verify the client count on this radio interface. If the threshold for this
trap is too low, you may need to readjust it.

Add new capacity to the physical location if the client count is a frequent
issue on this radio.

As Leo noted, the dual antennas in "Diversity" mode won't help to mitigate

this issue. Only adding another AP can help load balance the client load

Cheers!

Rob

Please support CSC Helps Haiti

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-8895

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-8727

That room is an island in that it is surrounded by double block hallways etc. The 24 laptops have N in them but the AP is the 1131. I have 1142s in most of the rest of the building and they are the more expensive N variety. Would using that type of AP be better than the 1131?

thanks

Gary

Thanks Rob,

That was what I figured. We had about 40 1131s from previous installs but the rest of the 170 APs are the 1142s. I may just swap out and put in 1142s for any classrooms that frequently use 24 laptops. Of course they are not cheap by all means.

Gary

The first

area we are converting is our Library which frequently sees the same

issues as your classroom example. In our testing the conversion to

"N" standard AP's makes a considerable difference like you nicely noted.

Cheers!

Rob
