DHCP mandatory vs static IPs

On a 5508 running the latest code, If I select DHCP mandatory on the Advanced page for a given WLAN, does that stop a client from using a static IP address, or are those two compatible such that they can coexist? I mean, if a client is set up with a static IP and on a DHCP scope that has exclusions for those static reservations, would the controller allow the client to reach the run state?

If the clients are roaming , i would prefer DHCP Dynamic, until any special requirement and there is move of the device all time.

If you select this, the WLC should drop all the packets unless the client succeeded in getting an address by DHCP.
You will get roaming issues if you enable this function, if you have several WLC though, so I advice against it.

If you need static addresses on some clients, add them as "fixed addresses" on the DHCP server, so that they always get the same address by the DHCP.

So if you want to profile devices and cannot use DHCP required as it forces
you to select for profiling, then no profiling is possible?

I've enabled http Profiling under local client profiling, that seems to work good enough for me.

It's anyway better to do that on the DHCP or Radius server, if they provide those options.
