Hey all, I've recently gotten a request that I need some help with. We have a small network which is a mixture of Wired and Wireless and on the Wireless network we have several SSID's a couple using 802.1X authenticaion and a couple using PSK. We also have an Open SSID for customers. What I have been tasked with is creating another SSID that will be used mainly by staff for their personal use off the domain. Eg. someone has a smartphone and wants to use skype or some other app on it. I don't want to leave is open however i would like to centrally manage the SSID to be able to tie in usage to a specific employee ID and be able to run reports etc. At the end of the day it is to be open but not lawless. Anybody have any ideas if this is something that is native to the 4402 or do i need a 3rd party software that i can used to accomplish this? Any guidance is appreciated

So, with the number of SSID you currently have, I wouldn't want to add another one. Remember the more SSID you have, the more interference and utilization you are creating.

That being said, I'd just stick them on the guest network, and maybe use authentication back to your AAA servers. You can still tie the device to the user that way.

as for 'lawless' that depends on what you have upstream. i.e. proxy, webfilter etc.

HTH,
Steve

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please remember to rate useful posts, and mark questions as answered
