We just received a new WISM2. Is there any way to determine what version it is out of the box (without puting it into a 6509 chassis)?

No, you'll need to install and configure the Sup to support the WiSM2 so that you can session in and see what version it is on.

HTH,
Steve

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please remember to rate useful posts, and mark questions as answered

i think you're asking diff btw wism1 & 2 identification. wism2 has one console instead 2 for wism1.

wism1

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps2706/ps6526/product_data_sheet0900aecd80364340.pdf

wism2

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps2706/products_tech_note09186a0080bb2500.shtml

If you want to determine if you have WiSM-1 or -2, look at the box. It'll tell you.

Besides, unless you purchased refurbished equipment, you will not be able to purchase WiSM-1 from Cisco because it's already End-of-Sale.

As to which software version it's loaded, no one can tell unless you stick it into the chassis.
