This syslog message is generated when the switch receives packets with a multicast MAC address as the source MAC which is not a standards compliant behaviour. This is just informational message doesnt affect performance in any way. Using a sniffer try identifying the station that is causing this behaviour.

Greetings all,

I am receiving these error msgs (WARN: 1/Invalid traffic from multicast source address 4b:15:e6:d7:00:d0 on port 2/18) on my access switches referencing the ports that connect to my 3 WLC's at 2 different campus locations.

The WLC's are 4402 (25) with 4.0.217 code.

Recommended that we upgrade to 4.0.219 but don't see any reference to these errors being fixed in the Release notes. Before I go through the process of upgrading, has anyone seen these, and know of the cause/fix?

Thanks,

William
