Yes, the client must be associated to the AP which is participating in RM in order for CWA to collect data.

WLSE walkabout troubles

I've run into an issue while trying to execute a client walkabout (using both the wlse function, and the location manager assisted site survey). I'm hoping somebody has some advice.

The building that I'm working on has 4 floors, with 4 APs to a floor (on in each corner of the building). All APs are setup for Radio Management, and running the Radio Scan was successful. However, when I run the walkabout, and physcially move throughout the building and floors, it appears I'm not getting location data for all APs. Sometimes I'll get multiple data points for one AP, but I can't seem to collect data points for all of the APs.

As I understand it, the walkabout is to help gather more information for the radio management. Should I be concerned that I can't get data from all access points, or should I take what I can get, combine it with the radio scan, and call it good?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

when you are doing the CWA are you hocked on to each and every ap?

This is verry important, you must be assosiated to a AP

to collect data from it.

I'm guessing that is part of my problem - I don't believe I'm associating to each AP during the CWA. I was under the impression that the client would jump to each AP as you walked into the range, but perhaps not.

Is the goal of the CWA to see the farthest reaching boundaries of an AP? If that's the case, maybe I need to run the CWA using a lower power setting, or possibly by walking out of range of the AP I'm associated to, then back towards it to determine the range of the newly associated AP? It seems that I can only get data on 2 APs (opposite corners of the building) per walkabout.
