hello

suppose we have a wireless client using an encryption key with an AP.

when a client roams from that AP to an other, how the new AP will learn about the key used by the client.

must we configure the same key in both AP? or must we use a local router supporting WDS?

There are two methods how this can be achieved

1. is the usual method where you can use an external radius server to do the authentication part

2. is by using WDS enabled access point which caches the clients details and passes it on to the Access points to which the client is trying to assoiciate.

The following document is explains it with sample toplogies,

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a0080184acc.html
