topic WDS Specifics in Wireless

What is the total number of access points that can reside in a Wireless Domain? I have implemented the WLSE 2.5 and would love to take advantage of it but I have 200 access points deployed now with more to come. Before I put these in a wireless domain I would like to know the limitations/restrictions to using this. If there is a specific number, how do you segment your wireless domains to specific WDS Servers. I have all my access points in one management VLAN and do not want to segment this if unnecessary.

With the existing IOS or VxWorks APs, there is no hard limitations on the numbers of APs in a Subnet/VLAN.

Ok let me rephrase my question. How many WDS Clients can reside in a WDS Domain?

Do a search on CCO for 'wds', I think I remember reading that the recommended limit is around 30 or so, which scares me.

I faced the same challenge and had it explained to me this way- you can only have one WDS per subnet. Also, if you are using an AP as a WDS, you don't want to have more than "30 ish" APs reporting radio data through the WDS- especially if the WDS AP is also talking to wireless clients. I have dedicated an AP to WDS, meaning I have releived it of it's radio duties. You can use lot more APs as part of the WDS environment this way, as all of the WDS APs processing power (The 1200s have decent processors) are devoted to passing radio data, talking to WLSE, etc. I plan on taking this config to around 100 APs before I go to plan B- putting in a RADIUS server for the WDS function. The functionality is also coming to switches in the future...

We also have around 100 AP1200's in one vlan/subnet, and we could use a dedicated AP1200 for WDS. WDS on a switch platform isn't released yet, and release date is unknown to me, Could you tell us if WDS on a 1200 with about 100 APs is working in your environment? In Cisco doc everybody talks about limts of 30-60 APs....
