- Presumably the AP has been using another controller in the past , on the AP issue :

capwap ap erase all

then try again

This is NOT a vWLC, right?
What is this? 3504/5520/8540? Have you enabled the AP RTU license?

In CLI of the WLC, post the complete output to the following command:

sh ap join detail <AP MAC ADDRESS>
