where the AP connected port- connect PC and test you getting the speed expected? any way max you get on this AP is 50MBps only depends how it configured.

We recently added a Cisco AIR-SAP2602E-A-K9 to our office network and we are only seeing up to 26Mbps using the WiFi. Is this normal? Also, we have looked into purchasing some external antenna for it and I don't know how much it will help. Does anyone have advice on how to improve the usability and speed?

Thanks

How you measure your WiFi speed? speedtest application ?

What is your internet bandwidth and what do you see when you do a similar test on wired PC ? Pls see below post and try to do a performance test with internal iPerf server rather with internet.

https://mrncciew.com/2014/08/08/how-fast-is-your-network-iperf/

There is a difference between data rates vs throughput, so when you compare different devices performance it could be mostly due to end point capability. Wireless data rates depend on 3 things

1. Channel Bandwidth configured (20,40 if your devices connect to 5GHz)

2. Spatial stream support of client device

3. Long Guard Interval(0.8us) or Short Guard Interval (0.4us)

You can refer to below link to see what data rates you can expect

http://mcsindex.com/

For client capabilities, go for the following link

https://clients.mikealbano.com/

HTH

Rasika

*** Pls rate all useful responses ***

> "Also, we have looked into purchasing some external antenna for it and I don't know how much it will help."

Are you trying to run an E model AP (= external antenna) without any antennas?

If so then you're lucky to get that much out of it and you definitely need to install the external antennas - they'll help a lot.
