Hi Folks, I am trying to configure an AIR-LAP1142N-S-K9. From what I can see it has a Autonomous boot image.

Secondary bootloader Ethernet not enabled, skip ether_init
Unable to locate IOS image with name **xx**.
Boot CMD: 'boot flash:/c1140-k9w7-mx.153-3.JD16/c1140-k9w7-xx.153-3.JD16'
Loading "flash:/c1140-k9w7-mx.153-3.JD16/c1140-k9w7-xx.153-3.JD16"...####################################
File "flash:/c1140-k9w7-mx.153-3.JD16/c1140-k9w7-xx.153-3.JD16" uncompressed and installed, entry point: 0x4000
executing...

I have set an IP address on the local gigabit interface (through the CLI):

Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol
BVI1 unassigned YES DHCP up up
Dot11Radio0 unassigned YES unset administratively down down
Dot11Radio1 unassigned YES unset administratively down down
GigabitEthernet0 192.168.110.2 YES manual up up

The device is powered using an external power adapter and (currently) all I am using is the console cable into the device.

From the CLI I can ping 192.168.110.2.

If I plug a computer into the 1142's Ethernet port and that computer is on the same subnet (/24) I am unable to ping the 1142 from the computer.

Do I need to have a switch to perform any initial configuration (for example the 1142 relies on the BVI or VLAN information)? I assumed that I could "just" plug a computer in and at the very least "see" the 1142.

Any guidance is appreciated.

- I think you may need to configure BVI1 instead and or check this thread for hints :
