Hi AP group and flexconnect group are working together sometimes. AP goup can work without flexconnect. However when we configure Flexconnect group, AP group is required to create? Thank you

But what is the advantage you get configuring each IP ?

AP group you have more advantages. look below :

No it's not mandatory. When you configure Flex Connect group you don't have to create a corresponding AP group.

But in certain scenarios yes you have to create. Each AP joined to WLC will be added to default AP group by default, WAN ID's from 1 to 16 will be available in this group. So lets say you need to advertise only certain SSID's to certain AP's, then you will add that AP to both Flex group and AP group.

Thank you very much for your reply. If these APs are in Flexconnect mode and are assigned to AP group without aaagining to Flexconnect Group, what would be happen? The Flexconnect function can work well? Thank you

Yes, it will work. In this case you need to configure VLAN mappings under each AP

Adding AP's to Flex Groups will reduce the management complexity and also it provides lot of other options like local authentication, flex connect image management etc.

Also from configuration prospective lets say that you have a branch with 10 AP's. You need just one flex group which will have all WLAN to VLAN mapping. Then u can add all ap's for that branch in to this flex group, otherwise you need to go under each AP to configure the WLAN to VLAN mappings.
