Hi,

I installed new access points (1560 Model), these APs connected to switch WS-C2960X-24PS-L model which has POE+ and the cable length around 50m. the AP is getting 15w and it showing medium power in the WLC, although the switch port is giving 30w.

please your kind advice as these devices installed in main warehouse and affecting the operations.

thanks in advance.

Hi

First of all, it would be interesting to know what´s exactly the problem. Usually, when AP does not get the appropriated power, 5.0ghz radius does not work properly. Is that the case?

If does, then you have a problem. If not, we may have a bug around and the WLC is showing wrong information.

What firmware is the WLC running on?

If the AP is connected to an AireOS WLC, post the screenshot of the Advanced tab.

AP can only negotiate POE+ using CDP or LLDP (CDP highly recommended on Cisco kit).

So make sure the switch and switch port have CDP enabled (cdp run in global config and cdp enable on port).

Make sure CDP is enabled on the AP on the WLC.

Many companies (like ours) security standards required CDP to be disabled in the past so if you did that then POE+ will not work.

Provide WLC model and software version (ALWAYS please people). Make sure switch IOS is up to date.

Provide "show cdp neigh detail" for that switch port when AP is connected - that will show what power levels the AP advertised/requested via CDP.
