Hey All,

Looking for some quick help here, I have a 9130i that we were testing the embedded WLC functionality on. However, we have decided not to continue down this path and want to revert the 9130 back to it's original state, essentially removing the WLC image or functionality all together and going back to a standard lightweight AP. Unfortunately, all attempts so far to do this have failed. We've tried numerous things, from a factory reset (30 second reset hold), to erasing the running config, to the cisco doc mentioned command "ap-type capwap". So far, everything we've done results in the AP still booting up running the WLC image, the CLI and GUI are all embedded WLC-esque.

Anyone run into something similar. We don't typically do smartnet on AP's, hence why we're asking the community for some help.

Thank you in advance.

Or you can connect to AP via SSH or Console and give the command "ap-type capwap". You need to do this ap shell.

To login to AP shell

#wireless ewc-ap ap shell username <ur username>

Just to add, sometimes the easiest way is to upload the image to the ap. If you have a controller that is running on a firmware that is supports the ap model, you can reboot the ap and the ap should join that controller. Place the ap on the same subnet as the controllers management ip. Part of the booting process is to discover other controllers and join, if not controllers are found, then the ap will revert to an EWC.

Try factory reset the AP by issuing the command

EWC#wireless ewc-ap factory-reset

then

AP1#ap-type capwap
AP is the Master AP, system will need a reboot when ap type is changed to CAPWAP
. Do you want to proceed? (y/N) y

CJ

/**Please rate all helpful responses**/
