Agree with Falvio and Balaji, additionally few more things which helped me

for virtualization of your own Lab, you can get good and inexpensive used HP servers with ESXI 6.5 or 6.7 on ebay, that what I did for my Lab.

if you are partner you can also leverage Cisco dCloud Labs, or if you work for a partner, they can schedule it for you.

if you are a Cisco Partner, there are lot of resource on sales connect you you can take advantage of.

In Cisco live Library there are lot of training, which are free for most part.

Lastly if you buy lot of Cisco Gear, then talk to your account manager, they might be able to help you with learning credits for this course as well.

hope this helps

LAB for wireless you need at least two physical Access Points. Ideally, 3. The rest, you can virtualize almost everything: WLC, Switches, routers. ISE,Prime, CMX and MSE.

And you are going to need all of them if you want to have hands on experience. Of course, for this exam, you dont need hands on experience.

https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/s/enwlsi-exam-topics

In short test most of the Wireless infra structure

1. you need vWLC

2. Physical switch with PoE

3. WAP

4. ISE 2.4 and more

5. Some Windows Server for AD testing with groups.

6. Prime Infra (maps and other stuff) - DNAC not available virtual yet.

Speaking strictly from course point of view, it uses Cisco IOS XE Gibraltar 16.10 I think, so any 802.11ac wave1 or wave2 AP should be fine.

but if you plan to work on customer networks then use 17.2.1.15 or higher and play with 9k series APs.
