First you need to know how was this 3800 AP being used. Was they in a WLC? If there were, so they must be running capwap protocol and you need to convert it to mobility express.

You need to be able to download software from cisco site.

You can follow this guide to setup the network after converted. One AP will act as Wireless Lan Controller and the others will join the WLC as subordinate.
