- There where always be issues in the modern complex world if and or (...etc) , for instance you look at later releases , examine Release Notes and look at Resolved Caveats (e.g.) . In practice you take your current environment , and look at problems if any. Is there a specific new feature that you need? If not I would stick to suggested release or the newest from that release (17.3.x). If there is a feature that you need from 17.5, I would directly go to 17.6 which will be the next long-term release.

Do not play with "single-release" versions like 17.1.X, 17.2.X, 17.4.X, 17.5.X, 17.7.X or 17.8.X into production.

Long-term releases are 17.3.X, 17.6.X, 17.9.X and 17.12.X.
