CMX. Change network settings remotely. DNS.

Hello,

can anyone tell me if it is possible to change the network settings remotely using SSH on a CMX please?

I notice there is a command "cmxos reconfigure" but does this wipe the config or let you change individual parts of it?

All I need to change is the DNS IP address and the search domain.

The Ethernet IP address and default gateway do not need changing.

Will I get locked out if I try and change the DNS and search domain remotely?

I haven't worked with the CMX, only ISE and few other appliances. In those cases, it works like on a router/switch. In other words, "show running" to see the current configuration and then "configure terminal" …. to configure the basic networking items. You might need to restart the CMX service afterwards or do a reboot of the machine.
Do make a backup first!

jphilp, here is how I did it:

[cmxadmin@mia1mse01 ~]$ cmxos reconfigure
This command will wipe all system metrics data when the configuration is changed
Do you want to continue?:
Do you want to continue?: yes
Please enter hostname [CMXHostname]:
Please enter IP address [x.x.x.x]:
Please enter netmask [255.255.255.0]:
Please enter gateway [x.x.x.x]:
Please enter DNS server [x.x.x.x]: i.i.i.i
Please enter search domain name [DomainSuffix]:
Are the network settings correct?: y

CMX then reboots, to pick up the new DNS setting. I wish someone posted this for me 🙂
