The WLC 5508 does not match the product when downloading and upgrading image files from an FTP server after IOS formatting.
Does anyone know about this problem?

- What do you mean ? Use compatible software only : https://software.cisco.com/download/home/282600534/type/280926587/release/8.5.171.0 , which is the last release that the 5508 can run , what error do you get ?

provide more information, what exactly you trying todo what what is the error you getting when you try to download or upgrade ?

Actually I would recommend 8.5.182.0 or 8.5.182.2 (from TAC only) if mobility is required.

As long as you download the correct image and meet all the prerequisites as specified in the release notes then it will work.

FYI: 5508 uses AireOS not IOS and you should not need to format anything - simply download the image from Cisco then upload to the WLC.
