WLC 5520 upgrade error

WLC 5520 running 8.5.151. Want to upgrade to 8.10.171. In WLC GUI we select "code" download using TFTP or FTP. Get this message as soon as we hit Download button. --> "Error while setting the configuration file encryption mode".

Any ideas how to work around this?

remove config network multicast and try.

The WLC is instructed to download the configuration file from the TFTP server. What happens if the option is set to "Code"?

We’re you trying to upgrade code or download config ? I thought I misread your post.

Other options - use http on the GUI or do the transfer from CLI.
