- It's not that easy to fix with a patch because that leads to a chicken and egg problem, the good news is that the controller can be put back to current time once all access points have been upgraded ,

Hi,

We're running a Catalyst 9800-CL vWLC with a number of Aironet 2702 APs on it, we noticed a week ago that they were all stuck in a downloading state due to issues with the certificate validation and AP driver package.

Cisco has since provided guidance (CSCwd80290) which is now bringing the APs back, but it's only a workaround. I am wondering when Cisco will release a patch to fix this, does anybody know?

Thanks.

Assume that a new release of AireOS will take at least a month. Remember the workaround is only needed when the AP needs to download. Once the download is complete the AP will be stable and NTP can be re-enabled. They might make an escalation image available prior to a full release but the workaround will be needed until the APs have downloaded and are running a fixed version of code themselves. In other words even when you get the fixed release the workaround will be needed for the APs to download the new code first time around.
