WLC Model- 9800

I have 7 APs in my one of the site, out of which only 3 APs are showing with radio 2.4 Ghz. I want all my APs to support 2.4 Ghz.

I'm guessing these are newer APs with dual band radios. This allows the WLC to change them for 2.4 to 5 which may be why 4 is listed twice under 5. you may have to go into the AP and set them to be 2.4 only instead of auto.

If you want all the APs to support the 2.4 GHz band, you need to ensure that the 2.4 GHz radios are enabled on those APs, Use the following command to enable the 2.4 GHz radio on each AP

config ap dot11 24ghz enable <DMAP04> OR MAC -address

config ap dot11 24ghz enable <DMAP05> OR MAC -address

config ap dot11 24ghz enable <DMAP06> OR MAC -address

then verify : show ap dot11 24ghz summary | include DMAP

i can see under Wireless >>> AP >> interfaces has been enabled for both radios

but still 3 APs are showing under 2.4Ghz

Check if those Access Points is receiving enough power.

Access the switch they are connected and chech the interface with "show power inline "

you can see on the dual-band output, 1-3 are 2.4, 4 is 5, and 5-7 are in monitor mode.

I am not getting the option to change the radio from 5 to 2.4 Ghz

I have not touched a 9800, so I can only show a 5520 and hope Cisco kept it kinda similar.

If you go under the dual band radios and select configure, you should see radio role assignment. I have found I have to select manual, apply, then the rest become available. Hopefully the 9800 is similar config.

- Edit Dual-band Radios
- Change Role Assignment to Client Serving
then the option to select the radio band will appear below that.

All APs are in Auto mode but still few APs are broadcasting both radios and few are not broadcasting 2.Ghz.

Cos' that's how Auto works!

You asked how to change it - so if you want to change it then follow the instructions given.

Also refer to https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/9800/17-9/config-guide/b_wl_17_9_cg/m_vewlc_fra.html to disable FRA.

no ap fra

Then you could also use:

ap fra revert all auto

to reset them all at the same time.
