We are looking at meshing a few 9124AXI on light poles in an outdoor meeting space. I'm having trouble finding a solution that looks waterproof. Of course we are looking for the cheapest option possible. I'm currently look at something like this https://www.amazon.com/Transformer-Waterproof-Grounded-3-Prong-Outdoor/dp/B0B4DKXCN5 and just zip tying it to the back of the AP but was curious on other solutions anyone has done.

If you supply DC power using your own DC supply, you need to use the DC plug kit supplied with the AIR-ACC-KIT1= accessory kit.

The AIR-ACC-PS-MNT1= bracket is an orderable option to mount a DC supply to the AIR-MNT-HORZ1= L-bracket kit. This may not be cheaper option, but this is Cisco recommended way to install DC supply on the AP mount itself.

The Catalyst 9124AX Ordering Guide can be found HERE.

In Table 20, it states the different types of Cisco-branded power injectors and one of them is AIR-PWRINJ6.

The company PhiHong is an OEM and is Cisco's sole supplier of power injectors since AIR-PWRINJ3. PhiHong's POE90U-1BT-N6-R, for example, can support up to 90 wac but, more importantly, can support SNMP to disable/enable the PoE ports.

The complete 60 wac to 90 wac PhiHong catalogue can be found HERE.

Beware of the power requirements for the 9124. The PWRINJ6 will work, but with the radios at 2x2 instead if 4x4.
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/catalyst-9100ax-access-points/nb-06-cat9124-ser-ap-ds-cte-en.html

Even worse, some documentation says that the PWRINJ6 will work with the older 1562 models. Other documentation says the 1562D will function (maybe at a reduced capacity, I don’t recall), however the 1562I won’t turn its radios on. This is what we have experienced.

Most of our outdoor APs are powered either by UPOE switch ports or TRENDnet 60W injectors. We do have a couple using DC input from a DIN rail mounted power supply in a pedestal too great a distance for copper, so they are meshed with the power wire run to the light pole the APs are mounted to. We have a piece of flexible conduit run from the AP into the light pole so the power wire never gets wet.

The information about PWRINJ6 in the Cisco 9124 Ordering Guide is a bug.

That is why I am recommending the 60wac to 90 wac injector portfolio (instead of the 30 wac).

We are going to test using a 60w power injector in a waterproof box. Especially since we don't have the DC connectors from the kit.

Thanks for the information.
