Roaming is fine.

We had to make several RF profiles to cater to wireless clients that "require" 1 Mbps to join the SSID.

Hi

If two different APs belongs to two different RF profile (the difference in RF profile is the mandatory data rates)

How would roaming between these work? Should it work as usual or what.

Both are connected to the same WLC.

Hi @Moudar

It will work. The roaming process is an "automation" to help the client to find the best AP but once it is done the client will negociate with the new AP the assiciation and authentication(which is simplified but it does happen). The available data rates information will be on the beacons send by the AP.

It should be docummented by vendor in case roaming between AP with different data rates were not possible.

It will also work for seamless roaming is they are using 802.1X, as the cached credentials are shared by all APs that belong to the same FLEX profile, even if the APs have different RF profiles.

The only thing that won't be shared is dot11k/v information if you are running version below 17.7 and if APs belong to different site tags as well.
