9800LC Guest wifi account expiring before specified lifetime

Hello,

I have not yet verified this myself, but, I've been told that guest wifi accounts are expiring before the lifetime period specified when creating the login. I am curious if anyone else has experienced this.

We are using a C9800-L-C controller running 17.06.03

Take a look on the WLC time out

Configuration > Tags & Profiles > Policy > Policy Profile Name > Advanced > WLAN Timeout

I did not see any know bug related to this, when you click on guest user, it will show something like below and you can test it out and confirm :

Start Time

Expiry Time

Remaining Time

Thanks. Though these logins are setup to expire after a month plus a few days.

But after some talking over here, I have since figured out there are two other possibilities that we're going to keep an eye on -

1. Our guest admin sometimes may be changing the password for an existing account, which is still expiring on the original date

2. A user is waiting too long to sign in after connecting to our guest network, and the web auth is expiring

So we're going to do some more digging the next time this comes up.
