SSL Cert using weak hashing

We're trying to solve some vulnerabilities seen on WLC 5520, it's default cert is using SHA-1 WITH RSA ENCRYPTION and it's hashes is considered to be weak. I'm trying to find ways to solve this without needing for a third party CA approval. Will this be possible? Any inputs are highly appreciated 🙂
