AP cannot fully register to WLC - receiving message Slot ID 0 is not valid

Hi guys,

I just migrate an autonomous AP to Lightweight by using WLC. Everything seems to be done correctly except when the AP reset and tried to register to the Controller (the AP reset all the time ...). When I made a "debug lwapp event" on the controller , seems the registering process is OK except this message "Slot ID 0 is not valid for AP ....".

What does it mean ?

What can be the problem ?

Has anybody already got this kind of behaviour ?

Reset the AP back to autonomous mode, upgrade the image ,and convert it again. I hope this help may help you.

I suspect you are converting an AP that does not have a supported radio onboard. Early model APs could require a AES capable radio upgrade to meet the minimum LWAPP transport requirements. Is your radio a B only or a G radio?

shut the switchport. not 20 secs but 5-15 minutes.

Check again if they are registered again.

Take a look on the WLC config and try to identify why this is show the logs "Wed Feb 25 10:15:06 2009". Seems the WLC time/date is wrong and this can be a problem for capwap join process as it use certifcates.

Console into the AP and reboot the AP.

Post the entire bootup process.
