The AP boots up - I connect a console cable and I can see the logo of u-boot and then weird characters. Image broken? That was running an EWC image without problems, rebooted it one day and that's it...

What's interesting, I can see (using CDP) that after a bootup, AP gets an IP from a DHCP server but I cannot ssh/hthtps to it and it is not broadcasting any SSIDs, no provisioning SSID, either.

I tried to get into the recovery mode. I rebooted the AP, u-boot logo appears, I press ESC - nothing happens. Tested on two PCs with putty and securecrt. Any ideas what to do next?

Make sure the console is using baudrate of 115200 bps

This has been discussed twice on other threads in the last few days (and many before that)! Please search for existing posts before asking the same question again.
https://community.cisco.com/t5/wireless/9120axe-console-give-me-only-symbols-after-a-reboot/m-p/5211711#M276769
https://community.cisco.com/t5/wireless/cisco-access-point-9130axe-cli-unusual-language/m-p/5211688#M276766

FYI: this change was introduced by https://bst.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCwe88390

This is documented in https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/9800/technical-reference/c9800-best-practices.html#AccessPointConsoleBaudRate so it's a good idea to go through that Best Practices guide.
