Hello Cisco mates!

I have an issue with my embedded controller Cisco AP 9124 AXI-E. I have 4x Cisco AP9124 AXI-E configured in the same subnet (10.100.1.0/24). One of them is configured as controller and assigned a WLC Management IP, in my case 10.100.1.30. They re connected trough a cisco switch CBS350 16p 2Gb Eu, in the same VLAN and switch.

I have tested this in my lab and everything is okay, the APs can join to WLC perfectly.

When we connect in the same switch the APs, each AP is visible among them, but no one can reach the WLC Management IP. I a pinged between an AP to WLC AP and I can reach the AP IP (10.100.1.28) but I can't reach the management WLC IP (10.100.1.30) I have a lot of loss of configuration, there's 1/10 succeful pings (Uploaded a test).

I have checked if there's a duplicated IP, tried with another management IP with no succes ping, changed the cables but there's no reachable IP etc.

I connected the APs between a L2 switch and there's no conection issues.

I'm confused about what's happening, I guess there's something wrong configured in the network / customer switch.

Wmi vlan must allow in trunk between SW and WLC.

Where do i have to configure the wmi in the switch or the AP? The managmenet wlc IP and the IP assigned to AP are in the same VLAN 12(Must be) and is configured as access port.

How do I check if my switch have that configuration or not?

The wmi is always part of the EWC configuration ; use
EWC(config)# wireless management interface GigabitEthernet0

In essence there is no relation with the switch configuration however the APs must be in a correct VLAN(subnet)
that has access (network connectivity) to the EWC WMI

+ You can checkout and validate the EWC configuration using the CLI command
show tech wireless (not a simple show tech) and feed the output from that into Wireless Config Analyzer

Sorry, thought you were talking about switch configuration wmi or something else in the switch.

That configuration it's already done in the EWC "wireless management interface GigabitEthernet0"

The real confusing in this scnearios is:

- Installed in my lab with a L2/L3 Cisco switch with a basic port configuration for configure the devices (description, access port, vlan) and everything working fine. Tested in a hub (switch) and worked fine too

- Installed the devices in customer scenario and the EWC was not reachable (lost the 80% of the pings).

Ignore the ping losses , we have seen that a lot in with the EWC, can the APs join the EWC in the
customer scenario ?

Out of curiosity, when you had this in the lab, did you also have the media convertors? Have you tried to take the ap running as a controller and another ap and bring that back to your lab to see if they connect? Just seems like the controller isn't coming up, also, maybe scan that subnet to see if the controller picked up another ip?

You use router port not SVI for WMI

spanning-tree portfast

The AP port have the same configuration port. I have tried this in my scenario lab with the same configuration, trying to not use "spanning-tree portfast", "no power inline", "negotiation auto", etc. getting the same result.

@Mark Elsen Actually I have the APs installed at the factory, I have to come back soon but want to go with a solution before arrive to finish the installation. I'´ll share the boot process when I arrive to the site in the next days.

@Scott Fella I did the same scenario in my lab. The difference is the switch model, in my lab is a WS-C3560X-48P-E and the installed is a CBS350 16P. I have installed in both cases with a media converter.

Ok, following up on the remarks of @Scott Fella ; also check if the EWC is available at the factory once it has been booted : try to access the CLI and GUI and verify normal access and operations.

- For the time being I don't have comments on the switch configuration as I said :
Step 1 ==> Check if you can have a functional EWC in that environment by logging on
to it with both the CLI and GUI , after it has been booted

Just found where's the issue.

The company that manage the network devices, found that the mac is duplicated in the network, is configured in the core switch as vrf with the same mac-Address as the WLC.

Now I tried to change the mac-address assigned to interface, and it's not possible by editing the port, it's not taking the change.

ip dhcp client client-id GigabitEthernet0
ip dhcp client broadcast-flag clear
ip address 10.100.1.30 255.255.255.0

Do you guys know a solution for this?

- @juan-sierra - Those are not intended to be changed and are used by the VRRP redundancy mechanism that the EWC platform uses ; so if that one is seen elsewhere it can be considered normal. Remove that from the port configuration ,

It's cannot be changed and also deleted. When I try to change by cli in the interface configuration, the changes didnt apply.
