connection reserve within the devices

Hello, Im not sure how feasible what Im about to propose is, but I kindly ask you to listen to me for a moment.

Basically, I would like to develop a technique that allows storing a Wi-Fi connection directly in the phone, so it can be used even when the network is disconnected or unavailable. Its somewhat like when the body releases glucagon in the absence of sugar: the Wi-Fi connection would be “saved” on the device and used when the network is unavailable.

The idea would be to have a sort of “reserve” internet connection that would allow normal browsing, even if the Wi-Fi connection is turned off. Of course, when the connection is absent, the phone would switch directly to mobile data, but my idea is quite different. The difference from mobile data is that the phone would be able to browse in Wi-Fi mode even when there is no active modem.

For example, imagine this scene that we have seen in countless movies or TV shows: the protagonist is in the woods or a remote area, and mobile data is unavailable. The story comes to a halt, danger is imminent, and there’s no way to call for help or search for information online.

But if only they had a Wi-Fi connection stored on their device, everything would be different. They could continue browsing, searching for solutions, or sending emergency messages, even without signal.

This is exactly my idea: to allow users to store a Wi-Fi connection on their devices, so they can continue using the internet when there is no longer any network.

I appreciate the answer , but it’s impossible that there isn’t a way to do it with all the technology available. Of course, I’m not an expert in this field, but I don’t think it’s completely impossible

If you don't have internet, you don't have internet. What happens when you are on your cell and in an area where you have no wifi or cellular... you want to still browse the internet. You need some sort of connection to have "Internet".

That is correct. There are 3rd party software like netMotion, which is a VPN solution that caches information until the device has connectivity again. This solution keeps the connection alive to the end service so that sensitive apps can still work. This is not a cheap solution, but if the device does not have any connection, you can't just browse the internet.

Not possible as of the time being.

Currently, T-Mobile and Starlink are testing sending/receiving SMS where there is no cellular/mobile coverage.

What happens after this testing phase concludes is unknown.
