@pavansharma The Catalyst 9164I is a Wi-Fi 6E access point from Cisco’s Catalyst 9100 series. It does not support an autonomous (standalone) IOS image like the older Aironet APs used to, it only operates in lightweight mode and must join a supported wireless LAN controller (WLC).

But however my Cisco friend, u can run it in embedded WLC mode if u have a compatible Catalyst 9100 AP that supports EWC and load the EWC image, but the 9164I itself is not currently one of the AP models that can act as the controller. In other words, u can’t make the 9164I act as a standalone controller or run without any WLC; it always needs to join a physical or virtual WLC (som like c 9800-CL, 9800 appliance).

hope it helps and PEACE

-Enes
