Hi,

What will be the Power Consumption of WiFi 7 APs 9176I or 1976D while booting? As some are saying its taking 60W while booting.

Are you referring to actual consumption or the amount of PoE that is allocated to the AP by the switch?

I can't answer your question specifically, but can offer some observations.

I've noticed that a switch will allocate a full 15W (class 3) or 30W (class 4), etc. to an AP as it's booting up since CDP/LLDP power negotiation has not yet occurred. As an example, we have some residence halls where switches are full of hospitality APs (1815Ws) and not all APs are able to boot up simultaneously when the switch boots since the switch reaches its max power allocation as the APs have a full 15W (class 3) of power allocated to them. (Or maybe it's 30W, I can't remember for sure.) After the AP fully boots CDP power negotiation occurs, the power the switch allocates to each AP drops to 7W, then the remaining APs are able to boot up.

As far as actual power consumed, you can find that out with a "show power inline <interface> detail" command. Here's an example from a 9166 connected to a 9407. I suspect the 9176 would be similar.

#show pow in g1/0/2 detail
Interface: Gi1/0/2
Inline Power Mode: auto
Operational status (Alt-A,B): on,on
Device Detected: yes
Device Type: cisco CW9166I-B
Connection Check: SS
IEEE Class (Alt-A,B): 6
Physical Assigned Class (Alt-A,B): 6
Discovery mechanism used/configured: Ieee and Cisco
Police: off

Power Allocated
Admin Value: 90.0
Power drawn from the source: 30.0
Power available to the device: 30.0
Allocated Power (Alt-A,B): 30.0

Actual consumption
Measured at the port(watts) (Alt-A,B): 12.6
Maximum Power drawn by the device since powered on: 16.4

Absent Counter: 0
Over Current Counter: 0
Short Current Counter: 0
Invalid Signature Counter: 0
Power Denied Counter: 0

Power Negotiation Used: CDP
LLDP Power Negotiation --Sent to PD-- --Rcvd from PD--
Power Type: - -
Power Source: - -
Power Priority: - -
Requested Power(W): - -
Allocated Power(W): - -

Four-Pair PoE Supported: Yes
Spare Pair Power Enabled: Yes
Four-Pair PD Architecture: Shared
Perpetual POE Enabled: FALSE
Fast POE Enabled: FALSE
Meter Start Time: 2025-07-29 01:50:21 EDT
Metered Energy Value(WattSec):996091.191
