AIR-AP-3802I-B-K9 Lightweight to Mobility Express Firmware conversion

I'm trying to convert my 3802I from capwap to Mobility-Express. The problem is, Mobility-express isn't listed as a valid ap-type in the installed firmware.

So when I try:

ap-type mobility-express tftp://192.168.1.3/D:\TFTP\AIR-AP3800-K9-ME-8-10-196-0.tar

Is there a good workaround? Have I done something completely wrong?

I am using the console.

When I try to get-request the file from my server, the command fails because ap-type only accepts "capwap" and "workgroup-bridge" as valid arguments.

The AP must be running a very old version of software (before Mobility Express was supported).
Install the latest (AireOS compatible) CAPWAP image *before* trying to convert to Mobility Express. It's best to do that anyway for a successful conversion.

@Sisco NEW you are replying to a thread which is more than a year old!
You say there is a syntax error (or you guess?) but don't say what that error is - which makes your answer meaningless.
If you are going to suggest a solution then you need to provide the solution - not a just a vague and meaningless hint at what you think it might be related to!

In this case the cause was absolutely clear and obvious (and already clearly stated): the AP was running a version of code which did not support the ap-type mobility-express command - either very old AireOS or newer 9800 code (which no longer supports ME) - nothing to do with syntax! The AP simply needed to be running a valid version of AireOS CAPWAP code to be able to be converted to ME, so there is nothing to "Recheck"!
