How to stream video from Mac to Chromecast?

Hey,

I'm trying to connect my MacBook to a Chromecast so I can stream video, but I can't figure out the setup. Can someone give me step-by-step instructions or tell me what software I need?

Also, if you ran into problems before, what troubleshooting steps worked for you?

gDay @bawermanadrian9 U don’t need extra software my G, just use Google Chrome on ur MacBook.

Make sure your MacBook and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi.
Open Chrome - three dots - Cast.
Select ur Chromecast device and then choose whether to cast a tab, desktop, or file..........

If it doesn’t show up, try restarting both devices and double-check that they’re on the same Wi-Fi network. And this is how I always fix this issue........

I already set this before here is how:

Install Google Chrome on your Mac if you have not already. Chromecast works best through Chrome.
Make sure your MacBook and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Click the three-dot menu in Chrome → Cast and your Chromecast should appear in the list.
Choose whether you want to cast the current tab, your desktop, or a specific file.

Troubleshooting tips:

Restart both the Chromecast and your router if it does not appear.
Make sure your firewall is not blocking network discovery.
Sometimes creating a fresh Wi-Fi network with both devices works better if you have multiple SSIDs.

Works reliably for me Chrome makes it pretty seamless once the network settings are correct.
