CW9166I‑ROW 6 GHz Not Enabling in India (IN) Regulatory Domain

Hi,

I am testing CW9166I-ROW Cisco APs running IOS‑XE 17.15.04d on a C9800CL-vWLC. When the country code is set to 'IN'(India), the 6 GHz radio remains down. If I change the country code to AR (Argentina), the 6 GHz radio comes 'UP', but the 6 GHz SSID does not broadcast on any 6E‑capable clients.

My questions are:

Is 6 GHz/Wi‑Fi 6E supported in India with IOS‑XE 17.15.04d?
Why does the 6 GHz radio stay disabled under the IN regulatory domain?
What prevents SSID broadcast even when the radio is up under other country codes?

Any guidance or official documentation would be helpful.

Is 6 GHz/Wi‑Fi 6E supported in India with IOS‑XE 17.15.04d?

Yes, but, only now in 2026, as we can see on the link below.

IOS‑XE 17.15.04d was relared in 2025, so, you need to wait until next releases in order to have 6GHz available.

Why does the 6 GHz radio stay disabled under the IN regulatory domain?

Most probably because Cisco does not recognize the approval for 6GHZ just yet.

What prevents SSID broadcast even when the radio is up under other country codes?

This need to be checked. Do you see any error message, any syslog message that could help?

Besides, if you were to use any other Regulatory domain but India, use US instead.

- @madhurimuppalla Following the remarks of @Flavio Miranda the closest or latest you can try is
17.18.2 but I doubt the 6Ghz support will already be enabled even in that version.
On the 9800 controller you can use :
show ap name <CW9166I-ROW-ap-name> config general
Look at output after this line : Regulatory Domain Allowed by Country
(check if 6Ghz is present)

The 6Ghz support for India must be present in the controller software first!

Can you please confirm whether the IOS‑XE image 17.15.4 and 17.18.2 version released in December last year includes support for 6 GHz operation in the India (IN) regulatory domain? and also

Is there any upcoming IOS‑XE image planned that will add 6 GHz support for the India regulatory domain? If yes, is there a tentative timeline or release version available?

support for 6 GHz operation in the India (IN) regulatory domain.

It doubt. If the wireless range is release on India this year, it will take at leat one year or more to have this fully available on devices. This takes time.
You can contact Cisco or reseller in India but I can ensure you this process is not fast.
