Login problem after upgrade from NCS 1.1 to Prime Infrastructure 1.2

I have upgraded NCS 1.1.1.24 to PI 1.2 lately. The installation process completed successfully.

But now i am not able to log in to the GUI anymore as root. After entering the password all I get is a blank site (undefined).

I get the same result with all known browsers. Rebooting or restarting NCS does not change anything.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Login to the CLI and change the password:

ncs passwod root password password

Hi,

I had the same issue and found this severe bugs:

Bug CSCuc29378 Prime Infrastructure 1.2 won't start after a db restore/Upgrade from NCS1.1.1.24

Oracle DB bug as well: CSCtw59460

The Solution seems to be a reinstallation from Scratch, as no bugfix exists at this time.

Do you know how to reinstall the NCS on a appliance? Can it be done through CLI with a downloadable Image or will I need a CD?

Hi,

if you mean a Cisco Hw. appliance, I can't imaggine to do a reinstallation without a media-DVD, excepted there is a hypervisor on it. I ever make NCS virtual installations.

If you mean a virtual appliance, you are using the .ova template from the cco in the needed version NCS1.1.1.24 or CPI 1.2, and you import into ESXi as it.

I installed more than 6 times in ESXi 5.0. Everytime when I install, it went well. but i am not able to access HTTP page.

When I scaned ports, SSH and 8082(Health monitor website) are working, I can log in 8082.

But, I can't access main page.

I tried "ncs stop" "ncs start" reload, reinstall db and reboot. doesn't work.

Are you using the small ova? Make sure you meet the requirements especially the hard draive space. Also make sure that the md5 matches before you try to install the ova.

1. Yes I am using small ova (md5 checksum ok)

2. I am suing ESXi 5.0 with thin provision, so I am trying "Thick provision with 200GB (recommended h/w) even if current VM doesn't exceed more than 20GB. Except HDD space, my VM meets all requirement.

Well the Hard Drive space is required for the database to be built properly during the install.

Unfortunately, I couldn't fix this.

I talked to TAC yesterday, she trouble shooted for 2hr. but still same.

she found that some servers are not running correctly, end of this, she tried to collect log file through ftp, but ftp was not up either. she used tftp server through my laptop, but no luck.

In the meantime, I added physical HDD and made "Thick Provision with 200GB". but no luck.

Thick provision is better (as default), but my case may not be related to HDD space because when I finished installation my VM size is less than 20GB. Anyhow it was a good recommendation, Scott. Thanks.

Now, my case was escalated to upper TAC, I will let you know update tomorrow.

Yeah I don't know... the NMS is what allows you to GUI and that needs to show as running. Your not migrating, your basically brining up a new server running PI 1.2. I might have to try it myself this week.
