So the AP isn't forwarding the multicast packet to the SSID? How is the SSID configured, L2 bridging?

Hi,

Recently handle a project realted with mDNS(Bonjour) transfer.

It's same VLAN

#1

mDNS packet from wireless client to multicast address can be captured on wired server.

#2

mDNS oacket from wired server cannot be captured on wireless client, but on the AP wireless connected can see that.

Current version: MR 30.5

Bonjour forwarding is enabled and set to same VLAN 1000 for all services.

Any idea or configuration might need to check ?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Billy Lee

In that case, I'd upgrade to the current 30.7 and see if that fixes it.

Hi

Just provide update, it seems Meraki Engineer need to set the parameter for APs for the maximum packet length to unlimited or larger number in order to fix this issue and the UDP Multicast channel issue.

Best regards,

Hi BillyLee

Can you provide a bit more information (I dont know if you have any) 🙂

Because Im currently seeing some strange mDNS issues that "smells" a little like your described problem.
For me its two clients on the same SSID / same VLAN , bridging-mode, no firewall on the AP, and so on (so nothing should block). But the client cant discover the "casting" device.
When looking at packet captures on the wire, we see all the mDNS packets, and if we, for fun, connect these two clients to another AP (fx. some dumb homerouter, or phone-hotspot) it works instantly.
So it seems to me that the AP might be "filtering" some mDNS packets on the wireless side (I have not been able to do a wireless packet-capture to verify).

Thanks

Thomas
