To manage a set of MR36s through Meraki is it a requirement to connect through a MX--- firewall or can the A/Ps connect through a 3rd party firewall as well?

Please advise

You don't need a MX. Meraki APs can connect to anything.

So the only requirement is that the A/Ps are registered in Meraki, correct?

Just in case the obvious has been missed, the MR36s still require power. Normally this is done via PoE.
