While I can't explain why the behaviour would change with a firmware upgrade, the documentation is pretty clear around which port should be used.

https://documentation.meraki.com/Wireless/Install_and_Get_Started/Installation_Guides/CW9178I_Installation_Guide#Extending_the_LAN

Hi

Upgraded this weekend all our AP's to this version. A mix if MR36/46/CW9178I.

All the CW9178I AP's that have uplink port 1 connected, no longer pass traffic. I get zero uplink traffic. If I move the port to 0 I get traffic & normal operation. 9 out of 11 AP's are using uplink 0. 2 are using uplink 1 still.

It's odd since the dashboard see's them, clients see them & can connect. The switch port(non Meraki) see's them. But no one can get internet or ping.

Anyone have a fix? Those 2 AP's happen to be hanging from 40 foot ceilings & I need a lift to change them.

Thanks

I suggest you perform a firmware rollback and then open a support case so they can analyze it.

While it doesn't explicitly say it that I can see, all the documentation refers to port 0 as the primary uplink port and port 1 is only to be used for HA/aggregation or to extend ethernet to a further device.

https://documentation.meraki.com/Wireless/Install_and_Get_Started/Installation_Guides/CW9178I_Installation_Guide

How about if it is enabled, but just one plugged in, that should work...?

The 2 are an Atrium install So yeah they are that high. No option to lower the mounting. Downgraded those 2 for now. Support told me either port will work. They are investigating my report & may have a fix in a future update.

Thanks
