sooo...I figured it out...an example list from 5ghz is this (from one of my 5ghz aps):
Nearby APs
AP 2ce3.8edb.fc8f slot 1 : -51 dBm on ( 36, 20 MHz) (WLC IP)
AP 488b.0a7c.e5ef slot 1 : -52 dBm on (132, 20 MHz) (WLC IP)
AP 884f.5962.138f slot 1 : -53 dBm on ( 56, 20 MHz) (WLC IP)
AP 488b.0a7c.cfef slot 1 : -61 dBm on (100, 20 MHz) (WLC IP)
When I check the mac's listed, they dont show up anywhere else.

However, if I leave off the f at the end, it finds the device. And its because of slot 1 radios having the mac end in F for 5Ghz ones.

Hi wireless experts,

is there any way to check the RRM RF neighbors of APs, which are associated to a C9800 WLC?

I tried the command: "show ap name <AP-NAME> neighbor summary"

However, this command lists all the BSSIDs the corresponding AP sees.

wlc#show ap name myAP101 neighbor summar

So in this example output, you'll see BSSIDs of another AP on the same WLC (same RF group): BSSID starts with 00fc.baec.568

Also the output shows BSSIDs of an AP, which is not inside the WLC deployment: BSSID starts with 6c8b.d3cc.c28

For the first BSSIDs I would expect, that the "Neighbour" column is set to TRUE ... however it is not ... 😞

I'm running IOS-XE 17.3.3

Apologies for the thread-o-mancy - but when ever I use the "show ap name <apname> auto-rf dot11 <band> command, the AP's listed are macs that are not visible in either cat centre or the 9800 controller. But they should only be AP's we have as there are no active APs elsewhere. Any suggestions?

Each radio has a dedicated base MAC address:

show ap name <AP-NAME> config slot <SLOT-ID> | include BSSID
# OR
show ap name <AP-NAME> config dot11 <BAND-NAME> | include BSSID

This is the MAC you should see in the neighbor reports.

Furthermore, each active WLAN has a dedicated MAC address per AP (this is actually named the BSSID), which are the following MACs of the base BSSID.

show ap name <AP-NAME> wlan dot11 <BAND-NAME>

This is what you wireless client sees
