Recently many of my MR86 APs have been bugging. Most of the time they are not broadcasting, and they show 100 percent interference on the 5ghz band. Almost like someone is running a signal jammer nearby. Requires a restart, but eventually comes back. What’s the cause?

Well, it’s definitely not a jammer, that’s why I’m inquiring about what could be causing it. My outdoor spectrum is relatively clean.

+1 to this, we had the exact same experience with 32.1.6, where APs would stop broadcasting any SSIDs and stop responding to 802.11 traffic, while also presenting in the dashboard that they had "100% interference" on both bands.

Agree with the recommendation, rollback to 31.1.8.

32.1.6 should be removed from the Recommended Releases IMO.

We are experiencing the exact same issue on MR46 AP's. Non 802.11 interference goes to 100 percent on 5ghz channel and the AP just stops broadcasting. A reboot seems to fix it. I too thought it was initially some type device jamming the 5ghz frequencies.

I have 500 APs and we upgraded half to MR 32.1.6.

One month after upgrading, I found over 50 APs getting hammered by this 802.1x 2.4ghz interference at 100%. A few people were complaining about connections being horribly slow.

I rebooted them all.... one by one.. smh. MR56 APs. Now I can't roll back to MR 31 firmware because it took longer than 2 weeks to find the issues. This is now the second big bug I've found on 32.1.6.

I upgraded one of my sites to 32.1.7 last night and I am still seeing 2.4ghz getting hammered by this interference on some of them only hours after it got upgraded. We're not at 100% yet on any of them so far though.

Hi Raphael,

Yes - typo. I looked at all my APs manually after it was reported.

If you go to the Summary page per AP, scroll down to "Utilization on current channels" and under 2.4 ghz, you might see your AP at 100% of "non-802.11 Interference" (the teal colored bar).

I found that the issue was occurring at all of my sites running 32.1.6 firmware. I have sites running 31.1.7.1 that are only purple w/ no teal showing.

Didn't take me long to find it once I noticed the complaint came from a room that had 2.4 non-802.11 interference maxed out. I did report it to Meraki and am waiting to hear back. In the meantime, I'm going to try upgrading to 32.1.7 to see if it solves the issue.

Response from Meraki Support:

"yes this is a known issue too unfortunately. A reboot can often work as a workaround.

A fix has been pushed to 32.1.7 yes, and other customers have had success upgrading to this version. So you may consider an upgrade to this version."

I already upgraded two of my sites to 32.1.7, so far seems good with respect to the interference on 2.4ghz.

This is a known issue where the monitoring radios incorrectly detect non-802.11 interference, and it can happen on both 2.4 and 5 Ghz radios.
This can cause beacons to not be forwarded on that radio and clients to be dropped.
This is already fixed on MR32.1.7 so feel free to upgrade at your earliest convenience.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

WHY is this not event disclosed ? Cmon Cisco...
