Not Able ping Management port for 5520

in core switch in create vlan 94 int vllan 94 192.168.50.254

and assign wlc management port 192.168.50.252

i make untagged vlan 94 at time WLC installation

with service port i can access WLC GUI

with Management port i am not able to login with out switch also when i directly connect to lan Port also

paste the swicthport config where WLC is connected!!!

Configure Native VLAN 94 on the switch port. At-least on one end, you have to tag VLAN.

Its recommended to tag the VLAN on WLC end.

I had this same issue, best is the remove the native vlan on the trunk and have the wlc tag the vlan. This is what I have been doing with the controllers without issue.

Tag the VLAN 94 on the WLC management interface. The issue will get resolved.

if am doing from scratch at time installation 0:untagged =vlan number or 0

then switch side

int g1/1

switch port mode trunk

switchport trunk native vlan 94

please correct if any thing is missing

i also do not configure CIMIC in UCS Server

i need CIMIC ip add i should use different subnet

it is optional or mandatary to configure in cimic ip add for 5520 wlc

Either one end you have to Tag the VLAN. Do only on the WLC via taking the console of it.

If you do on the WLC End, switch end its not required.

Its good to enable the CIMC of the WLC, So that you can take the console of the WLC in case of any issue 5520 WLC CIMC Configuration

in the wlc

i had made at installation 0:untagged=94

i assume that my management vlan is tagged

i am confusion these tagging of management vlan

experts please advice

Run the command show port summary and check the port status of it. If its disabled run the command config port adminmode 1 enable , then check.

As of now your switch and WLC configuration is seems to be appropriate.

Here is the port config on the 3850 switch: (NOT tagged also No native vlan setting on the switch port, configured as trunk)

Both interfaces configured for 10gbit

Restarted the WLC as well.. Still cannot ping the Management interface.

Is there something other than the initial confiruration on the WLC that nees to be done?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In troubleshooting the issue further, I found the issue. For anyone else which experience this problem.

I needed to untag the management vlan on the 5520 wlc. Then just create a trunk port on the switch.

e.g. on the switch:

With any controller model, you can tag or leave it untagged. I personally alway tag the management interface.
