Thank You for the Post. That is basically what I thought but didn't have a definitive answer. I think for our size that the express with the license upgrade will be sufficient. Again Thanks, John

WLSE VS WLSE Express

Hi all,

Could someone explain the differences between the WLSE VS WLSE Express besides cost and number of clients they support? Does the WLSE have less functionality then the WLSE? Seems from the docs that there isn't much difference unless I am overlooking something. Cisco Rep is pushing us more towards the full blown WLSE but won't give us a good reason why other than monetarily. If the functionality is the same I think an Express with a license upgrade will get us in cheaper. We have a site around 70 APs and are moving from Enterasys to Cisco and figured that this would be a great tool. Can anyone give me some insight if they have been using it?

Thanks,

John

The main difference is CPU, HD size and RAM. Other difference is the scalability/device limit. Software wise the features are pretty much the same, except that express have an integrated AAA Server. See the product bulletin for more details: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6379/prod_bulletin0900aecd80283020.html
