Hi, I just bought 3 cisco aironet 3602i and one 2504 controller. This controller has ports 3 and 4 as PoE.

Can I plug one of the APs into one of those? I need to power up one of the APs for initial configuration and it will later be deployed and connected to a PoE 3560 switch.

Please advise

Thank you

bigcat

Have no access to a 2504 at the moment but believe the command [port 4 power enable] will bring up the AP connected to port 4.

I know its not recommenced... but it will work if the AP and WLC share same subnet.

I believe TAC started supporting thiamin v7.3 or v7.4. Also, as long as you don't have LAG enabled when using v7.4, ports 3 & 4 should have PoE enabled by default. With LAG enabled, you loose the PoE option in the ports.

You would need to create a dhcp scope for the WLC management subnet if you want the AP's connected to port 3 & 4 to obtain an IP address. So bottom line is, the ports are on the subnet that the WLC management is in, you can't change this, and the WLC needs to hand out dhcp for the AP's in order for the AP's to get an IP address.

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App
