I am trying to update licences on wlc using USB. Would i be able to install licence using GUI or should i use CLI. If CLI what commands should be used?

AireOS requires tftp to upload license.

Which WLC and software version? Licenses does not requires a file anymore in new WLCs.

Only the 3504 support USB. Anyone else don't.
