LIMITED ACCESS | 2504 + 2702 aps

Dear All,

We have a the following issue with a 2504 controller in a data center connected to 20 AP in different offices. We are getting complains about "Limited access" and clients are disconnecting randomly. If they then disconnect and connect to the network it works again until the get limited access again. Sometimes this happens 5 times in 10 minutes and other times they can work for a couple of hours.

Has anyone had a similar issue and able to solve it.

A few things ..

If you have session timeout enabled on the SSID go ahead and disable this on the WLAN we can take that out of the mix.

On your WLC check to see if you aps are dropping the tunnel. You can also select the AP and look for capwap join time. See if it bouncing ..

What is the WLC software code you run ? I would suggest you to have either 7.6.130.0 or 8.0.110.0

Rasika

Disable session timeout as stated above and check what the global session timeout is "show network summary"

Disable Aironet IE on WLAN too creates more problems than it does good.

Rate if helps

Dear George,

thanks for your reply.

We have done the first suggestion. It was set to 1800 sec. It is now disabled and we will see if this helps on Monday.

Could you explain a bit more what we need to look for on the WLC to see drops. We can ping between the datacenter and all aps without any drops. What is capwap join time?
