3500 series access point is not working on WS-C3550-24PWR-SMI

We have Cisco 3501i access points in our network.I want to connect with 3550 switch but access point is not working and getting the below error

controller port error.

IOS image --=c3550-i9q3l2-mz.121-20.EA1a.bin

Switch Model---WS-C3550-24PWR-SMI

I want to know ,this access point is supported on this switch ?

That switch should be able to power up that AP. if you have other PoE devices you might want to see if you have enough power.

Console into the AP and then plug it into the switch. Attach the output as long as it does power up the AP.

Take a look at this thread. Might want to upgrade the code on the switch also.

Show power-inline will show you if the AP is drawing power or what the AP and switch negotiated at.

only access point is connected to that switch and getting the error in attached logs.

Also i am attaching the boot up process which you have suggested.

Which IOS image i need to use ?

I would just load the latest. If you look at that link I previously posted. They upgraded to a certain firmware that fixed their issue. Yours might be different but I would go through that post to see what was done and compare it to yours.

What is meaning of this ? is 3550 supports PoE or Not ?

I have a 3550 in my lab, not up anymore, but I was able to power up all my APs except for the 1252. 802.3af standard was a standard after the 3550's were made. If your ports can supply 15.4w then it should power up the AP. if not, you can always get an AC adapter or a power injector to power up the AP.

i have also tried with power adapter but still access point is powered on but continuoulsy rebooting and even not able to ping the access point IP.

The same acces spoint is working fine with 3750 switch taht we have in our network but not with 3550.

The 3500 requires a WLC and that is why it's rebooting. Do you have a WLC?

yes

The same access point working fine with 3750 switch with same configuration done on the port however it is not working with 3750 switch.

Posting the output when consoled into the AP will verify what's happening. It is normal for the lightweight ap to reboot if it doesn't join a WLC. If you don't have a WLC then you will need to convert the ap to autonomous. If you do have a WLC, make sure the AP is connected to a vlan that has dhcp and put the ap and the WLC on the same vlan.

not working with 3550 switch and we have two 3550 switches and we are facing the same issue o both switches.

That switch has only 10/100 port .

do 3500 series access point supported on 3550 switches ?

The AP is 10/100/1000 and will negotiate. You can see the negotiation from the switch.

Ok, so dumb question time. The VLAN you are putting the AP on, is trunked to that switch? If you plug in a PC to the port, is it able to get an IP address?

You can use a 3550-PWR but I WOULD NOT BOTHER.

The switch will be the bottleneck.

As what Scott's been requesting, console into the AP and post the entire boot up process.
