topic AP not failing back to primary in Wireless

I have 2 WCs primary and backup, we had a power outage then everything came back. when the ap came up they connected to the backup WC not the primary WC, I rest the AP still it came back and associated with the backup WC. I checked the high availability and it is correct, I check the DNS entry and that also checked out fine.

any Idea where else to check or what could be wrong.

the WC are 5508 with ios 7.0.116.0

thank you

Please check a few things:Was

Please check a few things:

Was communication with the primary controller possible?

Did the primary WLC had any licenses left for the AP to join?

Do you have the feature "AP Fallback" enabled?

On a side note: the release you are running is very old, the recommended version for your WLC is 7.6.130. I advise you to plan a upgrade in which you also should upgrade the FUS image. Upgrading the FUS will at least take 30 minutes, so take this in consideration when you are planning your service window.
