Hi,

I am facing the similar issue while creating Mobility anchor tunnels between foreign and anchor controllers. Below are the models which we are using as anchor and foreign controllers.

Foreign Controller:
Model : AIR-2504
OS Version : 8.0.152.0

Anchor Controller:
Model: AIR-5520
OS version : 8.2.166.0.

Would like to know if there is any Compatibility issue with the both AIROS Versions or the hardwares.

we are sure we have allowed all the required ports of tunnel formation.

But we could see only control path is UP, but Data path is still down for mobility formation.

Please suggest on this.

Thank You.

WLC 5520 as Guest Anchor WLC

Hello,

I want to build a secure access for wired and wireless guest.

Currently, there are already two 5520 controllers (50 AP licenses) in HA mode (SSO) as well as an ISE for authentication of employees clients.

I want to use two 5520 Controllers (in HA mode) as anchor controller. How many licenses do I need on the "active" controller (the Anchor does not manage APs)? Can I use two 5520 without licenses?

thanks for help, Alex

Hi Alex,

Anchored clients are supported with HA SSO since AirOS 7.5, so that should not be a problem. From what I can find in the documentation is having one access-point license active on both controllers enough for 5520s to be in HA SSO.

Using 5508s instead might look cheaper upfront, but with 5508's the secondary unit should be at least loaded with a 50 AP license or it should be the special HA SKU (which is just as expensive as the 50 AP license model). Last but not least, depending on your needs and if you are willing to drop the HA SSO requirement even two 2504 controllers might be sufficient as well.

Please rate useful posts... 🙂

Hi,

We are using below as guest anchor controller.

Anchor Controller:
Model: AIR-5520
OS version : 8.2.166.0.

We have to move existing tunnels from foreign controller 4402 to anchor controller 5508 to new anchor controller 5520.

Would like to know the compatibility whether it will work or not.

i have already gone through the compatibility matrix and found it bit confusing.

Please help me on this.

Thank you.
