Hi everybody.

¿Where can I find an estimation of the coverage ranges that can be obtained with the AP 1200 and omnidirectional antennas of different gain?

There are too many variables to make any kind of accurate estimate.

A site survey is always the best way to go to verify coverage area.

Some of the variables include:

The height of the antenna

Standalone in the middle of the room / floor/ ceiling or hanging on a wall

--- The construction material of the wall

Local interference from other units

Layout of the space, partitions (walls, doors, etc)

--- The construction material of the partitions

Other obstructions

--- Moving people

--- Plants

--- Ceiling material

--- Floor material

Radiation pattern of the antenna (both axis)

As far as relative strength, every 3db of gain represents a potential doubling of the effective isotropic radiated power (~1/8 - 1/4 additional distance).

I agree with Scott on the variables but here is a link that will at least get you a good start in the right direction. Your environment ultimately has just as much, if not more or an impact.

Thank you for your reply, Scott.

I know what you mean: I've installed several wifi LANs in warehousing and manufacturing enterprises, always with a previous site survey. But in this case I need to cover a very clear and wide area; I've done a site survey with a 1200 AP and 2 AIR-ANT1728, and I don´t know how much can be improved the coverage area with higher gain antennas.
